U$420.000.000

Appian Capital Advisory LLP, an investment advisory firm for private equity funds that invest in companies in the metals, mining and related industries, announced on Wednesday, the 2nd, the completion of the sale of Mineração Vale Verde (MVV), in Alagoas, to the Chinese company Baiyin Nonferrous Group Co., Ltd (Baiyin Nonferrous).

The transaction, valued at US$ 420 million, was the 13th transaction by the British group Appian, whose operating model is to identify, acquire and optimize undervalued mining projects, using technical arbitrage to generate value for its investors.

The largest exporter in the Alagoas region, MVV is responsible for 28.2% of the state's total exports in terms of value. 100% of MVV's employees are Brazilian, and more than 80% come from local municipalities. The transaction covers 100% of MVV's capital, controlled by Appian's funds, and was agreed on a cash-free and debt-free basis. In 2024, MVV achieved production of 18.3 thousand tons (kt) of copper and 8.2 thousand ounces of gold.

This means that one ounce of gold is equivalent to approximately 30 grams, that is, 8,200 ounces equals 246 kilos of gold. In the current market, a kilo of gold is R$500,000.00, which generated revenue of R$123 million reais in 2024 from gold extraction alone.
